AC Milan midfielder set for Premier League switch
The AC Milan midfielder had an underwhelming season. The Rossoneri are trying to cut their losses and Nottingham Forest are interested.
In the remaining days of the summer transfer window AC Milan need to sign a new midfielder and a new centre back. At the same time Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are working hard to offload a couple of players totally out of Stefano Pioli’s project. A prime example is Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The French central midfielder played a minor role in the Scudetto triumph last season seeing the pitch for a total of 607 minutes across all competitions. If he stay he is sure to play even less this season with AC Milan doing all they can to cut short his two-year loan from Chelsea.
After an unsuccessful flirt with Valencia the 28-year-old seems destined to return to the Premier League. Tiemoue Bakayoko is edging closer to Nottingham Forest. The newly-promoted Premier League side are doing heavy business this summer spending over €120 million on the market so far.
Nottingham Forest consider Bakayoko a player of valuable experience to strengthen their midfield. Besides the Rossoneri, the 28-year-old has played with clubs like Rennes, Monaco, Chelsea and Napoli throughout his career.
AC Milan need to offload Bakayoko for economic reasons as well. If the French midfielder plays a certain number of matches this season his transfer from Chelsea becomes obligatory for a figure of €20 million. AC Milan are trying to avoid at all costs paying such a high fee for a player that is not a regular starter.
